Well never read this even though its a all time classic.

With the shit going down at the moment, a big brother style future and a democracy that is more totalitaranism, this book seems like a must read today.

Maybe Orwell was right!

I've not stated so I'll review it when I'm finished. If its good I'll move on to Animal Farm (not the porn version unfortunately ttyt )

2121212 Thank you young padawan...

I got soo many books at moment.
Nice getting back into reading, before my work in Peru a few years ago I never read at all hadnt picked up a book for 5 or so years. I'd rather game or Tv in spare time.

But after no Tv or Gaming for a few months out in the Andes I found I read more than ever and actually really enjoyed it. But tis def difficult to get back into reading at the start I found myself drifting into thoughts but with time you get back into it.

Man I loved the moomins... 232323

Tis difficult to start reading if youve never had the inkling too.
I think you'd enjoy it but its finding the time chap.

I guess my nan and grandad were the ones who got me into reading.
I used to stay their all the time at weekends (parents having some sort of orgy party I reckon) I'd be whisked away their til Sunday evening.
I'd always start reading some of my grandads war books even read one of me nans Mills & Boon 232323 . My uncle (only around 18) used to read horror books so read some of them.

TBH their really is sooo much shit on tele, that I find if I cut that crap out I just have time to get a few pages in a night.

Well just finished this.
Really enjoyed it but been very slack with reading last few weeks as had 24 season and playing on 360 a bit.

Very very good and so many little things you'll notice like Big Brother, Room 101, Totalitaranism themes etc etc...

The ending is abrupt and in some ways its sad but I want go into it too much in case anybody else reads it.

Its so strange how this book was written at the time of WW2 but the menace of society and powers that be, that it talks about isnt really based or influenced by the nazi's but more by the western powers which is what makes the book controversial and interesting.

I wont say no more but a good read and a definate classic.

Huxley is great and brave new world is where I pinched my bands name from,,, egofilter!

1984 is great,,,, but its one of the few occasions where the film is better than the book in my opinion,,, fight club is another example, cant think of many more.

I've only just noticed this!
1984 is one of my all time favourite books. It's one I've read a few times now, and always get something new from.
I have never actually watched the film though. After reading Ego's comment, I might have to.

1984 is a classic I also like Man in the High Castle by Philip K Dick, it was a brilliant read and a sort of what if based on 14 years after a longer second world war (1939-1948) The Japanese and Nazi's won and have been busy destoying all books and art from the America's and are conducting internecine intrigues against each other in North America, specifically in the former U.S., which surrendered to them once they had conquered Eurasia and destroyed the populaces of Africa.

Top book and well worth a read 2111

Glad you liked the book, it really is one of my faves.
