XGL vs MWG - Gears 2

Hi while i'm over here i may aswell get a challenge sent over too for gears of war 2

how is the following:

day and time: Wednesday 29th or Thursday 30th of April from 9pm

Settings:

5v5
execution
best of 5 maps
starting weapon: Hammerburst only.

all weapon swaps are listed on that link above, sorry if these settings seem quite strict as they are agaisnt anything chainsaw on gears 2.

i sent you plenty of PM on this site to you to discuss and arrange and iam still unable to locate your gamertag on XBL,

we had a team all turn out ready on the night in question but we did not have any idea other than yourself whom we might of been playing..

we also felt a bit un sure of the game rules you propose to play hence why i wanted to discuss and come to happy medium about them, as we have not played those rules ever so it gives a un fair advantage to you.

happy to play those rules, but why not split the rules and have them for 2 matches your choice and then default our choice for 2 matches(Lancers allowed) and then a 5th decider the losing team decides on which rules?

if you can confirm that , then i'll happily post up to see if we can get a team together...

ahh sorry i did not check back to your forums untill now as i had been very busy with setting up the cod 4 tournament and inviting the teams etc i would have sent the challenge alongside the ivitation for your clan to the tournament and the challenge would have slipped my mind so I do apologize for any matches organised without us turning up, ive looked in our match signup area and their ist a post so it would have slipped my mind as i normally await for replies before i book anyone in yet again sorry for this.

on top of that i changed my GT to XGL Potleg UK this month so any contacts to my previous gt would not have got through. i could have suggested for you to contact us on our site if you don't recieve any replies in the threads we have a chatbox and a member would have sorted something out. yet again sorry about this and i hope we can sort something out.

I heard game battles were bringing Chainsaw back and removing Hammerburst, apparently they now don't like the hammerburst!! (Using modded pads as excuse but I don't by it) Just seems they don't like getting killed by weapons they don't use!!

Sorry mate we ain't game battles, we play normal weapons. That is too confusing for people to remember. I do not see the point of moving everything the designers have put in and everyone knows where they are. Up to Ozzy if he wants to play and arrange.

I am happy to play with "normal" settings and maybe the odd rule like no saw or motor as we do that with some peeps but to change a lot of weapons on all maps thats out of question. Sorry mate but puts us at a big disadvantage as we don't play them, if you have a particular weapon then we can agree but all them is too much.

Ozzy what about you?

yeah i agree if iam honest, puts us a big disadvantage, and besides i like my lancer its hoover chainsaw,

so potleg we are more than happy to arrange something if you will accept a default standard weapon swap with friendly fire on, and lancers allowed......

let us know and we can start looking for some dates, although we are quite bust with matches around dates suggested so might need to be a little futher off.....

Most experts use hammerburst, newbs like myself use it as we are shit and it gives us a slight up close or SPRINT action.
I think its due to elites moaning that with chainsaw any OLD NEWB can get a kill.

AND MY POINT IS so bloody what if it gives some noob a chance. Surely playing is all about fun, I dont know many elites that use the weapon so I dont think they can abuse it.

Anyway I'm sure theirs probably some chainsaw glitch that people can use but I dont get taking out THE MAIN weapons..

Anyway Oz/Mackam you are GEARS CHIEFS so you can decide on what goes ahead.

I don't get it either, if you die by a crap weapon then its your own fault. I don't use Lancer but don't like telling people what they can and can't use. The mortor is the funny one for me, asking for it off as it is over powered, no it isn't. When it goes off it makes a loud nosie and you look up to see where it is going. There is no map that you can't get in cover easy or just move and you are sitting duck when using it. Reason why never joined game battles, prefer T-Bagging Americans online!!

I use the lancer but don't really use the chainsaw on it any more. When you get use to the joys of the shotty then you loose you love for it. Although some guy tried to get me with one the other day so I reved it and waited just round a corner and he ran into it, basically it was his fault.

I still think the funnest moment me and a mate had on a ranked match in Gears 1 was with a chainsaw in Gridlock. We charged into the Boomshot's alcove in the middle and threw Smoke Grenades to cover the whole area over. Then we waited with our chainsaws revved up as one by one, the whole opposition made a dash for the boomer and promtply got dissected.

For me, the chainsaw is perhaps the only reason I enjoy Gears, as there's not much better than carving up someone barely a foot away from you. However, seeing as I rarely play it (owing the the fact I'm am uber poor and I prefer other games) I'm not bothered.

Its a nice leveller, only last week in wingman league Rob killed about 5 of us with it as we were not used to people using it online. Was really funny to watch people run into a saw waving in the air!

well we only play those rules for our competitive team as they are for competitive play otherwise its a chainsaw fest that dont require any skill tbh. i don't wanna see camping in areas and coming out with chainsaws just to win a game as it is an unfair tactic if the other team wins by playing normally. sorry but we feel any team that prefers chainsaws in their matches would play in this way so prove us wrong in the match

anyhow scrap the settings and just go with default thursday would be the better day for us to get a team setup.

I'm fine with either settign tbh. Don't use the lancer anyway

Maybe just leave everything as default. As we mainly use hammerburst anyway...

Soz Potleg we actually mainly use hammerburst anyway as its better but some people who dont play Gears often use Lancers and have a blast just messing about charging.
I have no problem with this as if you work as a team its easy to take them down.
I find it hard to understand why people take them out but as I never use lancer I dont really know what glitches people may exploit. Also if I get chainsawed I blame myself for not switching to shotty and shooting them in the first place.

don't think any of ours use the lancer do they? that ranked match was a bitch last night! our whole team chainsawed in the smoke lol feckers - they can hide round corners and suck you into it i have noticed which does my melon in a bit

prefer thursday 30th if possible as ill be in the match cheers.

would be harder to get a team due tot he footie on the wednesday.

We do haev clan match but its on CODW so shouldnt cause too muchy disruption.

No problem with getting a Team mate, Ozzy since you were dealing with them you want to arrange? I don't mind doing it but since you were sorting don't want to jump in.

Camping with saws, not seen that, might have to try it!! I use hammer anyway. Boosh he mentioned the Thursday being better, seems ok but Mike you had GOW1 night started, but could do both as we have enough.

Suggest ozzy if you do arrange cloud is worth a shout as he ain't been in one for a while and can do Thursdays. (also doesn't use Saw!!)

The Lancer is god in the dying seconds of a game (0:00 is best), especially if you are 1v1, on hail, against the other teams best player and have run out shotgun ammo...........

Think best thing to do is have split hosts (2 each)...
And let game rules be on each others host to make it totally fair.
Guess most important is have fun.
