Swine Flu
Wanting to know what u guys would do/ asking for your help
Im due to go on honeymoon in september but i need to pay about 5k off to pay for it at the end of next month. What should i do with swine flu pay the money and take the risk that we can go and its not gunna get worse, or loose 200 quid booking fee and not take the risk and try n go when this flu has gone away. Most peeps i have spoken to say dont take the risk........
But what do u guys think?????

Re: Swine Flu
Dong is right. However, you can call various help lines to see what the forecast is. Dunno if the WHO have a help line but maybe Immigration or Excise and Customs? Maybe even the Embassy? Id try and ask around the official places.
I know Mexico are taking this real serious, saw a vid of a top league footy match out there yesterday evening, no-one was in the crowd! And I mean no one, it was empty.
Edit:
Also saw this article this morning

Re: Swine Flu
As serious as we maybe should take swine flu truth be told I think everything maybe fine. Be honest I think if we start meddling with injections and shit mroe likely to cause outbreak like it has in past as your then giving the entire nation a small swine flu jab that means more likely for it to mutate into something worse.
Already they say tens of thousands if not more have had it and very likely their immune system has over come it. Most of the people in Mexico that died has happened over the last month some people hear the news and think tis happened in the last 5-6 days. Its not its killed mainly people who were first hit, elderly, young and they didnt get any treatment.
To be honest mate already its gone to USA and 1 person ahs died which was an 18 month old baby that contracted pneumonia. Any baby that gets flu at that age could catch pneumonia not just swine flu.
Most in America have overcome it and other countries too.
Actually people catching it could be a blessing as it already experts say the strand of swine flu has weakened. So our immune systems have beaten it and thats how nature works.
Obviously I do think people should be careful especially elderly and young for sure.
But most people especially if healthy could get swine flu and get some meds and totally be fine and if their immune system beats it themselves then they will never likely catch it again.
We go USA in 3 weeks so Im a little worried but hoping all is ok.
Im mainly concerned about having to have jabs, I hate jabs, have never got hugely ill so dont feel like I need them especially as if I get it I can be treated with some meds while having it and likely be fine.
I also worry that this outbreak of swine flu isnt gonna not keep spreading as its natures course and it will spread til we become immune to it. But if it keeps spreading no matter how mild, every few people that may die will be headline news and pandemic on teh way. Just a reminder that the flu itself actually kills thousands but now the scare mongering will start.
Best bet I guess is to speak to your GP and see if he has any advice or people he can send you too see.

Re: Swine Flu
don't forget 10,000 people die a year of flu in the UK anyway so don't be worried - a pandemic will up that number but we have the meds

Re: Swine Flu
I went to HK in the middle of the SARS and Bird Flu crap, I had to sign a document upon entering the country saying I would not stay or be anywhere near a shop or factory which killed and prepared chickens under pain of being arrested. I got to my hotel and from my hotel window noticed the shop over the road did both! I spent the whole 10 days sh!tting myself when I left the Hotel that a cop or army officer would be walking by as they would know the document I would have to sign
It was a great holiday and I had no problems though, I wouldn't even let it bother you dude they'll have an inital scare but then the aftermath with be mainly controlled and nowhere near as big as the media like to make it out over here. You think a few hudred have suffered the effects of it in a country over 10 times the size of our own. It's a drop of water in a really big pond

Re: Swine Flu
Tbh, I don't think you should worry about contracting Swine Flu - as the others have said you'd probably fight it off anyway - but with regard to a holiday, I'd be concerned about the reaction of your destinations government. Whether this strain is as dangerous as they say or not, that will not stop their knee-jerk reaction to it. Then god-knows-what could happen.

Cant you get insurance to cover cancellation?
My mum is oof to memphis in Aug - her insurance say they will only cover cancellation if the Goverment issue a health warning and tell people not to travel though.
