Sounds like you've got it sorted, but Wisp is good. Ceephax Acid Crew is Squarepusher's brother. The Tuss (think he is part of Aphex Twin), Mochipet (a little bit more breakcore than idm), knifehandchop, Clark, The Flashbulb, Tycho... you should really check out last.fm. Was talking about it in another thread somewhere on this site!ROBAFET wrote:new square pusher is very mellow, think they must be getting old. LOL

More like Converter/asche/morgernstern, imminent starvation, synth-etik, this morn omina, noisex, P.A.L., that sort of thing, tho I do have some merzbow in my collection.

Oh, like the more industrial side of things? I've not really explored that.
I saw Merzbow live once. He made people throw up! Hahahaha!

I dread to think what sounds the creator of Salad Fingers makes! Haha! However, I will check it out.
I'm a sucker for bass. I know what you mean about the complex programming though - love it!

Re: Anyone here into idm / electronica / bassline / mashup?
LOL...
Aye dont mind a bit of electronica.
Was really into it a while back, had a awesome cd think it was called Futurism (cool pink cd case) and had tonnes of upcoming electronica bands around 2000 that are now popular.
Was exciting for a while as well indie/rock was pretty poor at that moment in time.
Really enjoy some Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, Boards Of Cannada but not listened to them in ages to be honest. may have to dig them out.

Doooooo iiiiiiit! How come none of my friends are into this stuff? It means I can't rave it up at Bang Face (you need a minimum of four people to stay in the chalets).
Re: Anyone here into idm / electronica / bassline / mashup?
Max - you might want to check out this festival - it happens every year in Birmingham at The Custard Factory - I went to it in 2003 and 2005 - performers vary year by year but its not just music but also experimental films and art etc

Yup, I know of Supersonic, although I never went. I vaguely knew the Capsule girls who put it on. They used to put on some bloody great shows and still probably do. Saw Lightning Bolt and Envy at Theatre Space. Saw Some Girls and Das Oath there when it was still set out like a theatre with seats and everything. Saw Merzbow (noise legend) at the Medicine Bar, my friend had to leave as it almost made him throw up! Also saw Melt-Banana, Shitmat, knifehandchop, Mr Scruff all at the same place. I also saw the reunited Spine there supported by deadsunrising. God how I miss those days. The Brum music scene all went downhill after the closing of the Royal George and other music venues. Sucks!izorpo wrote:Max - you might want to check out this festival - it happens every year in Birmingham at The Custard Factory - I went to it in 2003 and 2005 - performers vary year by year but its not just music but also experimental films and art etc
I went to University in Birmingham and was quite involved with the music scene there and even put on a show once! Had the likes of Horse the Band and Throwdown crash at my house. One of the guys from Horse did a shit in my back garden! HAHA!
Re: Anyone here into idm / electronica / bassline / mashup?
well after the crap that happened in 2005 I haven't been back to Supersonic - paid all this money for a hotel and to see Psychic TV - then the entirety of downtown was evacuated because of supposed bomb threat - so £200 for the room, train and tickets for me and The HUbb and some food and by the evening was looking out the window and some cop in the street had taken his tit hat off was holding it over his genitalia and gyrating his pelvis in the centre of the street - I was fucked off about that.
I think Merzbow played one year a the festival a friend of mine use to be married to Emil Beaulieau (he worked with Merzbow) She's an artist in her own right - she records under the name Zipperspy - we were introduced because we had the same initials, born on the same day, time of the same year- that was weird .Check out either of them for more tunage or at least find new some new bands - Zipperspy in particular views herself as a multi-media artist so she works on some projects that are kind of obscure - one though you might be interested in is Survival Research Labratories - I may have mentioned them before - they do some intense work but they also work with lots of musicians as well

Re: Anyone here into idm / electronica / bassline / mashup?
Yeah I remember that bomb scare year, as a couple of my friends were there. That was pretty shitty.
Re: Anyone here into idm / electronica / bassline / mashup?
the whole thing was ridiculous - and no refund for the gig cancellation - I was watching the Modified Toy Orchaestra performance when the evacuation happened- at first they completely ignored it when people came on stage to tell them to stop playing - the black guy was really fucked off - we pretty much knew then that something was going on.
I remember throwing a fit when we got outside - so after waiting outside for about half and hour or so for the gig to resume, which it didn't - we went into some dive chippy around the corner and cops were trying to prevent people from ordering food - we got our food and I told the cop what, yeah right like there's going to be a bomb in the fat fryer - and what was it all for...because some idiot left a bag on a bus or some crap

and Dirk's other project Sonar - more noise (I was at the gig too)
gotta say I really struggle with merzbow due to the lack of any audio paterns to follow, it's just so random.

I much prefer Whitehouse over Merzbow
There was this od Japanoise band I saw years ago that opened for Foetus - I think they were called Bidet sort of talked to them at the gig but their English wasn't very good - One of them kept trying to buy me a drink because before the gig a drunken Thirwell (how else could he be) kept stepping on my foot - drunken little short man in a ruffled pink tuxedo shirt
