Ghostbusters
Okay ive had this game for a couple of months and used to play it before i joined you guys...i was in MgC at the time, check my gaming history and you'll see i have it and havent played it for months. This not much of a review but more of a warning.
If you are a fan of the original movie (im not really, but was looking forward to this release anyway) then prepare for dissapointment.
The game is 'loosely' based around the movie and includes many of the original cast, it also tries to involve all the original ghosts as well. The whole game script is poor...no decent ideas and seems to lack any imagination, perhaps they would have been best just to copy the game straight from the film?
Its great to hear all the original actors voice their characters but the written script is also substandard. They try to be humourous but it falls flat on its face...the actors must have know that this script sucked as their reading of the script is wooden at times. Any fans of the movie might actually find themselves squirming at some of the poor attempts at bing funny.
The game play to me is repetative and its not long before it becomes a tad tedious and it wasnt long before i was reaching for my copy of L4D/ COD4 or anyother good game just to wash the bad taste from my gaming mouth that this game left me with.
Guys if you are interested in buying this game i beg you to rent it first.

Re: Ghostbusters
Lol Hugh thats a harsh review, i brought thus game for my bf for a Fathers Days pressie, and although i havent played much of the game myself, because i have other games i need to complete first. My bf thoroughly enjoyed the game, and cant wait for the dlc to come out. However though my bf is and was a massive ghostbusters fan from when he was little.
This game almost weridly enough reminds me of CSI or Condemed, as you have to scan and use random equipment to find the ghosts and trap.

Re: Ghostbusters
Personally, i quite enjoyed this game, although can understand why it might leave some disappointed.
I think it's one of the better film licensed games out there, but also admit that's not saying much.
Renting it first is a good plan. There might be a demo too.

Re: Ghostbusters
True. The Brutal Legend demo doesn't include a sample of the RTS elements that you have to do in the game to progress. There's a few people that probably wouldn't have bought it if they knew about them!

Re: Ghostbusters
Yeah I quite enjoyed it and the online modes, it's not based on any movie and was written by one of the original film writers, i quite liked the story but did feel they overdid some parts and was only really annoyed with bill murrays voice over as he'd gone from being quirky and over the top in the movies. to being snide and childish in the game. He sounded like Garfield basically, you could tell he didn't care.

Re: Ghostbusters
It wasn't that funny no, but it had it's moments. I think as a package I just liked it, I wont go and tell the world to buy it but if you like ghostbusters then it wasn't a bad representation of them. The bit's with the PKE meter were well done with spooky music making it all the more absorbing. The ghosts looked decent, The gameplay was solid and the sounds were spot on it just ticked all the right boxes for me tobe a decent game. It's not brilliant but it was a good effort out of what I had thought was going to be a shambles

Re: Ghostbusters
I completed this ages ago... god bless no region code.... Yeah its not the standard of the films script wise, yeah the plot is a bit bodged.
But its a good little game... the single player is great fun,,, bit repetitive, find ghost, blast ghost, trap ghost etc... and the multiplayer dosent really exist. Its ok and the 'collection'' of ghosts isnt enough for you to keep playing online. Its a hoarde type co op level based affair really.
Biggest flaw of the game is the fact you cant play the story mode in co op... I mean surely that was an obvious thing to include?
Sounds like Ive given this a bad reveiw,,, being the pesimist I am cant help pointing out the bad points.... really enjoyed the game for about a week then ebayed it while it still wasnt released here to get get back maximum value....
Id say rent it.... you'll complete the story mode pretty fast then after that theres not much else really.... but you'll enjoy running round with a proton pack,,, that never got dull!
