the sun and star do it for me...mirror's not far behind
any paper that spends more time offering apologises for wrong reporting than they do telling their readers the news needs closing down

At some point in our history, and I'm not sure when, newspapers seemed to think they could report anything, and it'd be up to other people to find out if it's true.
Trouble is, not a lot of people bother, and lots more just believe anything!

so it looks like someone's gotta buy me the prestige edition so i can go dogging and make sure i stay away from the police
Re: Modern Warfare 2 night vision goggles to be using for peepin
I remember that, yeah.
But at least stories like that don't hurt anyone. I really can't stand it when they pick on people or groups of people. That's not news.
It's bullying.

Speaking of terrible reporting by papers the Daily Mail is probably the worst, their handling of the 14yr old lass that died recently was awfull. They used it to try and get people to stop their kids getting th ejab she had even though the jab didnt cause her death. even when they had to make a retraction of their claim that the jab killed her they still called her 'cancer jab girl' and tried to claim that even thought the jab didnt kill her it was still bad!
I fucking hate the Daily Mail!

Re: Modern Warfare 2 night vision goggles to be using for peepin
true... i was reading some shitty newspaper a year or so ago that was basically telling me that i cut myself because i like to listen to the old my chemical romance stuff n i have black hair n facial piercings. i was like '''wtf!!? if you cut yourself it's a normally a cry for help from someone that doesn't know how to tell someone that somethings up. you can't categorize people into groups like that cuz of what they do and don't like'' it was all over kerrang and the papers, better still... they were forced to apologize and the dumb cunt that wrote it got the sack for not bothering to research it properly.
there are fragile people out there and i can imagine that the article did more damage than good to those people, yea some of them are like the description in it, but in my experience most of them aren't. my stepdad does work for the samaritans and when he gets calls from people that have / want to cut themselves it's normally from people considered ''normal'' now try n tell me it's 15-25 year olds that like screamo n lip rings!!
ok rant over... it just winds me up when i think of that article

It's easier to deal with things we don't understand if we label them as being weird or not normal in some way. Newspapers love to stir the pot, and tell people what to think, as though they are some kind of authority on what is normal.
This thread got very serious. Sorry 'bout that!
Now go back to you supermario and beating prossies to death, you sick 14 year old freaks!!!

Re: Modern Warfare 2 night vision goggles to be using for peepin
I can't read most papers as they are full of crap. bark.
I get my news from unbiased internet news sites, and even 95% of them are heavily financed by the same twits that do the papers.bark.
Woof.

i dont mind papers that have an agenda...the guardian is to the left and the mail appeals to the right...its easy to know which paper to avoid...i just hate lazy journalists in the red top gutter press who make up stories and quotes - especially there quotes from insiders - they should name their sources...and when its proved bullshit they should be sacked

Re: Modern Warfare 2 night vision goggles to be using for peepin
Since reading the Bad Science book I'll never believe a newspaper article on health ever again. EVER! The book's a bit heavy going at times but well worth a read.
I like how the Star has words in BOLD so that you can just read 5 words in an article and get the gist. Can the Star you sum up the Israel/Palestine conflict in 5 words? Here goes: MUSLIMS. BECKHAM. SUICIDE. KABLAMMY. TITS.
But yeah, to be honest, from my experience of folk enquiring about the goggles set..... I wouldn't trust the majority of them with night-vision aids.
