CHIEF V CHIEF (GOW2) WEDS 21ST OCTOBER - WINNER MACKAM'S TEAM 4-0

Morning everyone,

As always the Chief matches have served up some fine Gears battles and this one was no different.
Firstly the teams:

We decided to make the host fair by allowing one of the lesser experienced players host the match. This started badly as people were jumping about all over the place and we had to rethink it. We decided to have Mackam and Webby host 2 matches each and treat it like a proper clan match so Webby hosted the first 2 matches.

Match 1 - Execution on Blooddrive - Webby host (5-4)
This match started well for Mackam's team as they were more confident collecting the Sniper/Torque and forcing Webby's team to hide at the top of their stairs. Although we tried different techniques we were being picked off 1 at a time and ended up falling 4-0 behind!! A little bit of tactic change at the power weapon changed Webby's fortunes as we managed to secure Torque and Sniper but also wiping out Bennett and Lemony who were the main weapon chasers. Miraculously we managed to take the game to 4-4 (don't ask me how) with mainly Meltdown and Webby on the offensive.
The last round was handed to Mackam's team as they grenaded AL early on at the sniper and Webby got downed trying to collect it, Bennett must have ran the length of the map to get the kill and Meltdown quickly avenged me lol. Being a man down Mackam's team managed to push forward and win the round comfortably.

Match 2 - Guardian on Security - Webby host (3-2)
After a tense first match Webby's team felt rejuvenated after being the stronger team in the end of the match and Mackam's team could breathe a sigh of relief after escaping an embarrasing loss. The first round saw Webby's team take a nice lead as Webby mortared Ozzy coming out of the tunnels and we managed to keep Daz out of the firing line. We made it 2-0 after a long round of Bennett vs Webby being leader but Meltdown managed to get the kill. Mackam told his team to forget about the Guardian match as it seemed doubtful they could win but Jinksie did some fine escape and evasion as leader for Mackam's team. Meltdown got caught by an onslaught from the spawn point and Jinksie was too feckin fast lol. Webby and Bennett were leaders again and it seemed we had the win with a lot of attacks on Bennett but Mackam managed to kill Webby (lag) and then the rest of the team was quickly picked off 2-2. The last round was really quick as Webby's team charged for Mackam, we knew they would go in the security area so once the button was pressed i charged in, completely ran past mackam as i thought the leader was further back and got killed. My team thought i killed him and pushed forward and AL who was our leader got killed and i was left alone at the end lol.

Match 3 - Warzone on Jacinto - Mackam's Host (5-0)
Well this was a very tense match as both teams sat back and it ended in a tie, both teams had 3 players but Mackam and Bennett charged in the last minute and got killed, we chased around for Ozzy but ran out of time. And then it all went Pete Tonge. Mackam's team were beating us to the majority of the power weapons and we just couldn't counter it. Plus they utilised the Boltok well to stop us getting Sniper/ Torque Bow. Mackam's team stomped to a 5-0 thrashing with little retaliation and probably the quickest match on the night.

Match 4 - Annex on Pavilion - Mackam Host (2-1)
Well we knew the match was beyond us now so we tried to have a bit of fun. Not sure the exact scores as i was being mardy and refused to write anything down but i think Mackam's team won by 60 points in the first match. When it came to the grenades round we were close to being 100 points down but some amazing last ditch fighting saw us claw the 2nd round to make it 1-1. Altho yet again we struggled on the Ink round and lost rather conclusively by roughly 160 points lol. Ouch!

So great games had by all and a 4-0 scoreline looks like a battering the scores show that Mackam's team only just edged it in 2 of the rounds and only really the Warzone match in which we were thoroughly beaten. Great Gears debuts from Daz190UK and iRoppa as both were great fun and was a difficult match to be involved in. As always Lemony was a great laugh and he must have had all 21 kills from annex on me as he was untouchable lol. As usual great turnouts from the regulars but special performances go out to Jinksie and Bennett. Jinks managed to top up the kills for his team and secured vital kills while Bennett was given a free roam pass and enjoyed sneaking about causing destruction wherever he went lol.

Obviously we had to let Mackam win since he is hanging up his Chief boots as we could have easily won lol.

Theres always space for people that wanna play Gears its just fighting the pain barrier of getting owned a few times, once you know the maps it'l come naturally i promise.

Was fun game and nice to play in a more relax game rather than clan matches. Well played every one on my team you did me proud even the team kills which you insisted were a mistake hhhmmmm.....

Nice write up webby I get the impression it was a real tight game bar the Warzone game lol anyway well done to the Mackam army It's great to see more faces in the Gears crowd, so well done to those along with the regulars.

My team kill wasn't a mistake!!! i lined bennett up perfectly and boomshotted him into a million pieces, then realised we had changed hosts and were no longer locusts!!

LOL - i attract a lot if vultures at times with me downing quite a few people, but at the end of the day i don't mind people doing it bcos it gives me more time getting my active and dropping more of them. If anyone has me in the Wingman tournie or has in the past will know this.
