well so far its going to be...

-Core i7 920
-Asus P6t Deluxe Mobo
- 6Gb Corsair dominator Triple Channel DDR3
-1Tb Samsung f1 spinpoint
-Corsair 1000w psu (i know its an overkill but it gives me plenty of room for upgrades later on)
-BFG Nvidia Geforce 295
-Noctua Cpu cooler (cant remember the model atm, although i may go for water cooling if i feel confident enough to do it)
-Windows 7 beta edition until its released in Sep 09
- as for computer case, it either going to the Antec 1200, Coolermaster Cosmos S or the Sliverstone TJ07
i think ive got everything.

It will be a BIG upgrade to my current PC which is neary 5 years old and cant play a thing. This PC will be used for many things other than gaming such as CGI applications, thats why it is high spec'd.

Hopefully i will be able to build it in June/July time. I'm really excited as it will be my first build

Wow, that is a serious rig. When you say CGI applications, you are talking about Computer Generated Imagery, yes? (forgive my apparent ignorance, I just want to make sure we're on the same page on this topic). If so, on the scale of motion picture quality? I'm curious why you use MS Windows, then (I suppose for the gaming aspect?), as most major effects studios in Hollywood (and I presume elsewhere) use Linux... I am probably way off the target here, it is just that Special Visual Effects are my love.

To Rebulous..

Hiya the CGI applications isn't for me its for my bf, i don't know how to do that much stuff. I don't know nothing about Linux, as i know Mac's are supposed to be good systems but there are not much games released on them. I know of Boot Camp, but for me to get Mac Pro 8 and then get Boot Camp installed, nah i can't be bothered with all that hassle. What are Linux computers like?

To iRoppa, do you build rigs also?

Krisab - I know how to build rigs but I don't. No real need as I don't do anything that requires a bespoke rig (i.e. playing games or CG etc).

Rebulous - I would get out more but the cable on my xbox controller is only so long...

It's something I've worked on and developed over many, many years and nigh-on perfected too yjy

not much good for video editing but it certainly scares "little people" (I'm not only guaranteed a place in Hell, I've booked an executive box!!).

Don't forget, I'm a Yank. Yanks don't do irony. I'm also not good at word games, so Lemony's effort, though fine I'm sure, flew right over my head.

I guess I'm too much the gentle soul for the rough and tumble land of XBL. I can't help but cringe at some of the, um, discussions, especially with ladies present. Call me old fashioned.

Ross, I'll get back to you. I haven't done editing in a while, so I'll need to review the process. All my editing has been under Windows XP. A while ago I converted to Linux and haven't done anything with video under Linux yet, though I have researched some apps.
