I agree Lem Hancock never quite fell into any category (but not in an original and good way) it was all very predictable and unfulfilling

saw a really good film last night (surprise) called Acolytes it's an Australian film - a twisted thriller (not usually into thrillers) but think thriller if made by the director of Kids

I watched Antichrist for the 3rd time last night, it's just simply amazing. Very slow and downplayed and barren but when things start to go wrong they go wrong fast and it stays with you

Lars von Trier?
You know I wrote to him back in Feb of this year for a project dealing with my experiential module at uni - because my idea for the project came from his film Five Obstructions - his asistant wrote back saying he would be busying with the Antichrist at that time - at first I thought it was the coolest blow off ever and then found out at the time of the placement he was in Cannes promoting the film

didn't mind Doomsday when I saw it - it wasn't great but okay
saw District 9 last night - really enjoyed that - obvious that it was about apartheid - don't understand why someone didn't like it - didn't like the fact the humans are the bad guys? that should come as no surprise - the human species track record is pretty poor we can't even treat each other with simple dignity
by the way they are trying to ban the film in Nigeria - seems they don't like being villians

I thought that was on Saturday though? Were you the only one dressed and talking like a pirate today robba
Aye Antichrist is Lars Von Trier, I'm not a huge fan of his I must admit, the films tend to get past being interesting and leaning more towards being art pretentious bollocks. Again don't get me wrong I like art and love being pretentious, I just choose not to have to watch 3 hours of someone else doing it Antichrist though was awesome, and yes izorpo I think you do have the best (although genuine) blow off ever!!! I'd frame it

Fifth Element: 7/10
I actually like this film for the fact its somewhat odd. The stupidly weird costumes, the hilarious-looking aliens and the little bits of humour all rolled together to make it just somethign enjoyable to watch. Ian Holm is, as always, pretty damned good in it but for once I didn't rate Gary Oldman much(because he's normally a good actor).

Bangkok Dangerous "Haircut"!
Watched this for the first time last night, and It'll be the last!
Mr. Cage was in his normal wooden acting mode, and wtf is up with that hair! He seems to be sporting it in all his latest films, hasn't somebody told him he looks like a right knob head!
The film was just as bad as his hair, 4/10 from me! Although the ending did make the film worthwhile watching in the end!

here's the message to him and the response - I've removed my email and real name but left the avatar associated with it - it's left over from when I use to pretend to be a Japanese teen pop star who sang songs about cats - long story - it deals with being too discordian to be on a Discordian forum - anyway you can all frame it if you want LOL - being an artist - I'm suppose to engage in all that pretentious waffle but whenever I'm in those type of situations I develop social tourettes and words like "fucking wanker" start appearing after every other word.

Hello,
My
name is ...and I am a Fine Art student at the University of
Chester. As part of my course work at the university I am forced to
participate in a module called Experiential Learning. The requirement for
this module usually consists of a student being willfully placed into a form
of indentured servitude for a practicing artist over a five week period (11th
of May – 12th of June, 2009). As I am a mature student with many
years work experience I do not feel I would benefit from this module either
personally or creatively within its traditional format.
I however have another idea.
I would like to be challenged by the experience and to be pushed creatively;
therefore my proposition is to engage in the placement remotely via a virtual
space. This of course would be achieved by utilizing the internet, messenger,
and e-mail. This would function in a similar manner that the artists within
the Fluxus movement utilized in the 1960’s when working in collaboration
remotely (re: mail art).
One manner in which the “placement” could function is that at the beginning of
each week, the participating artists would individually set a brief/
challenge/ parameter which I would have to create a piece of work resolving
and combining their briefs. Given that the artists could potentially set
various very different parameters, it would challenge me to resolve these
divergent parameters into a cohesive creative response.
At the conclusion of each week the creative response would be e-mailed to the
participants or posted on the internet. The participants would then consider
the work and then set the next weeks parameters (possibly based upon their
response to the work produced).
Throughout this process, all communications would be recorded and documented which would supplement the usual documentation and journal reflection common in the production of a creative work.
This is only one solution to how such a remote interaction might occur as the
exact form that the interaction would take would need to be negotiated with
the participants.
While this form of placement does not require a great deal of time from the
participants except for myself, this also would not impose or greatly
inconvenience any of the working artists willing to participate. The
participants could, however take a much more involved role in the process if
they chose to.
In participating in a remote manner with the contributions of more than a
singular artist, I feel I stand to benefit the most from this experience. I
hope that you would be willing to participate with me virtually in this
unique experience and in doing so we may be setting a precedent for future
students. This would allow for the possibility of students to have virtual
placements with artists located anywhere in the world and with the artists
that would be most beneficial to them and their practice.
I would very much like to work specifically with you as an artist as I feel
your contributions would be challenging and beneficial to my future practice.
After all it is your film Five Obstructions that gave me the idea to
implement it's base function in the process of creating fine art for this
project. I am sure that any input from you would immensely challenge me and
force me to seriously think outside of any preconceived safety zones I may
have.
I would like to thank you for your time and here’s hoping that you will be
willing to participate in my venture.
Thank you,

One of the best films I've seen in a long time. Saw this in 3D and thought it was excellent. It was emotional, funny, and had a good story behind it and the music for it was perfect as there wasn't a huge amount of dialogue in the entire film. Definitely worth seeing!

Blood the last Vampire! It was very buffy'esc i thought, the sword play and the special effects which went with it weren't bad but the effects for some of the vampires was turd! I'm sure they got the story from a game, can't remember witch one but it sounds familiar!
Overall a 6/10 from me.

The Last House On The Left! The new version and still as predictable as the first. Watched it with the missus the other night, and she enjoyed it! Was a few graphic brutal scenes but i thought it was very predictable and a bit boring for me, not bad as thrillers go i suppose! 7/10

Absolute bag of wank. I usually like Seth Rogen but this performance was phoned in. Charmless, humourless and boring. Even the great Ray Liotta can't save this rotting clown-carcass.

THE DAMNED UNITED
Brilliant movie...it took alot of stick but i think too many peple got the wrong idea about the book and movie...its a novel people based on a a factual account of brian Clough's 44 day tenure as boss of 'dirty' Ledds United...but its still only a novel!
Michael Sheen is fantastic as the late great Brian Clough...i loved Cloughie and must admit there were times when even i was fully absorbed by Sheen's performance...the body language...the accent...the ego...brilliant.

I loves this film. Brilliantly acted, great script and funny as well. Sheen's performance was that good I'm looking him up in other films now.Frost/Nixon was really good too.
