The missus herself actually enjoyed it. I'm slowly expanding her appreciation of film.
She still lists Armageddon as one of her fave's though, so it's slow going (I'm all for mindless action films, but there's better out there than that!).
We should have discussed the Usual Suspects instead!
Misread your post and missed the sister bit. Usual suspects is a top film.

A top film that the missus hates. I think i mentioned before that after watching it with me she claimed to have seen 125 films better than it. Never provided that list though!

Same here. I think she regrets being quite so specific, as it was 7 years ago, and I still mention it sometimes.

Split second - Rutger hauer scifi british bmovie - funny stuff, gets more ridduculous by the minute, some cracking lines and Ian Drury and Pete pothelswaite is in it too, Rutger is a cop on the edge, spends most of the film drinking coffee and eating chocolate. He keeps his guns in the fridge and his partner is called Dick Dirkin - bwahahaha. think it's from 1992, but it's so funny it's a must.

Zatoichi -7/10
I actually enjoyed it. I listened to the advice of ym firends and bought the DVD watched it and like it. Its pretty cool, some really cool swordfights and stuff, but the way it was presented was very strange, and it had weird parts that were largely irrelevant but funny anyways. (Including Fat Kid in a Nappy running around in circles yelling). Its definitely not a big-budget piece but still worth a look in anyway, if only to see how or why they decided to end it on a dance number...
Oh yeah - plot. Some blind swordsman strolls into town and gets caught up between a power struggle between rival gangs, add into the mix two Geisha seeking revenge on some people, and a kick-arse Samurai Ronin looking for work - there's a lot going on....

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The wife talked me into watching it today, very long film, quite slow moving, although it did keep me hooked for nearly 3 years (sorry hours!!), although ending is crap!

Red Sands - the build up was all right but then it just descended into hum drum horror - the best thing about it was the music throughout the film - that was stunning - particularly the end credits - floaty drifty stuff

Perkins 14
it was all right but the lead character was an idiot - to kill or not kill his deranged PCP son and others as they cannibalized the town
As I was commenting on what an idiot the dad was The Hubb pointed out I would not suffer such a moral dilemna I would have just killed them
too right - I don't care who you are I see you bent over disembowling and nibbling chunks of someones intestines my mighty boom stick will shoot first and not give a damn about any questions later

"Dance Flick" It's a comedy by the Wyans brothers, the funniest part for me in the film was "Miss Camels Toe" one of the teachers!
And talk about trying to help the family out, there is about 15 members of the Wyans family in this film! Still did not make it any funnier though, overall a 5/10 for me!

Outlander - Lame as... - waste of 2 hours of my life on a viking fighting space dragon film.
District 9 - amazing, gonna be a perminent part of my collection and a must watch for any sci-fi fan - one of the best sci-fi films I've seen in years.

"BRUNO" A comedy which i enjoyed and laughed my arse of all the way through! I know he's not every one's cup of tea, but if you liked "BORAT" then this is a must see! He takes a pop at all the things you would expect him to and then some! He has had multiple death threats after this film came out, and you can understand why after you watch it! I thought it was a brilliant film, and is one of my favorites this year! If you are not religious, gay, German, Jewish, American, then check it out!
A top comedy and it gets a 10/10 from me!

Watched " District 9 " myself the other night Roba and i did enjoy it!
Thought it was original and it was good the way it was shown from a sort of documentary type way! The "Prawns" as the aliens were nicknamed i thought were a bit lame at first, but once the action kicked in they were great! They must of got the ideas for the alien tek and weapons from the gaming world, because all aspects of the film seemed familiar to me! Some of those alien weapons though were boss and the effects were cool! I found myself cheering at the TV when the action was in full flow! Overall a 8/10 from me, i think there is room for improvement! Hope they make a " District 10 " to finish of the story, and they hold the Earth to ransom for all it's cat food!

considering Sacha is Jewish - he might not have angered them that much - well I'm an American chances are I won't be offended so I'll be watching it - I'm more offended by the things Americans do than of someone taking the piss out of them because of it....but then I'm a self-loathing one that refers to herself as North American Scum

District 9 - will have to check that out - I love sci-fi
now for the last film I saw
The Beast in Space (XXX version)
good lord what kind of absolute absurd nonsense was that - 80's Italian space beast porn complete with man dressed as Pan in hairy hose with giant rubber horsey penis - there was also Han Solo (not a reference to masturbation) light sabers - laser guns made out of domestic torches- people getting turned on by horsey sex and a possible robot rape
and if more interested in the film here's a place to do so
http://www.eccentric-cinema.com/cult_movies2008/beast_space.htm
we watched it while listening to the first disc on the Joy Division Heart and Soul box set - brings a whole new meaning to she's lost control again

"Year One" A comedy, but not a very good one!
A bit disappointing for Jack Black this one, lot's of one liners in it but just not that funny! Loads of cameo roles for different comedians but it didn't work for me, overall 6/10!

You should read the Golden Torgue series by Julian May....there's a group of people called the Firvulag (or something similar) who are physically disabled and bit lumpy but have the psychic to make themselves appear to be gorgeous....some dirty little chap tries to have his unwanted way with one of the females and she uses her multi-toothed furry front bum to bite his willy off!
Watched Hancock last night....glad I waited for it to come out on SKY movies for free.
5.5 / 10 Really didn't seem to know what genre it wanted to be....love story, super hero movie, comedy I DON'T KNOW!!!!
