NORTH VS SOUTH (HALO 3) = WINNER: SOUTH
HALO 3 North vs South
Welcome to the First Ever Muppet North vs South Competition. It was a mostly successful evening with a few minor problems, however with a lot less lag, certain parts had potential, so without further ado, lets introduce the teams.
Northern Reds:
Stu Magoo
Meltdown
NutmegVVilson
MrTaytos
Dongziller
Rebulous
Izopo
Robafet
Southern Blues:
Rossinio
Egofilter
Maxxxine
McDoom
Dark Therapy
Boosh
Sammiad
AndyAnnihilate
Round 1: Team Deathmatch - High Ground
The South Started on the Beach, with the North safely behind a large wall. In the early runnings, McDoom of the South got a few early kills, as did the North's very own MrTaytos. With momentum, on their side, the South pushed forward and drove the Northerners back again. Meltdown attempted to rally the North but a late resurgance in form by Rossinio helped the South Secure a First Round Victory.
Score: North 41 v 50 South
Round 2: Griffball - Griffball Court(Foundry)
An old favourite returns. The two sides squared off in the Griffball arena in the second round of the night. A very early score by Sammiad of the South started the ball rolling, a further point by the Southern Blues meant gave them a lead. However, the Reds came back, and claimed a point of their own, thanks to some excellent Forechecking with Hammers by Nutmeg. However, the Blues came back again and two more points secured another round victory for the South.
Score: North 1 v 4 South
Round 3: Spikeball - Spikeball Court(Sandtrap)
A new introduction to the Halo 3 playlist: Spikeball. Two teams battled it out in a crudely marked, sandy and dangerous Spikeball Arena. Players have 1 life and have to avoid Spike Grenades thrown across the court.. No shooting or exiting the Arena is permitted whatsoever. Three Rounds of this would determine who the victor. The first round was flawless. A truly epic battle between both factions with the North stealing a victory, despite the valiant efforts of AndyAnnihilate. The second round was somewhat more problematic, due to a lot of lag, people were dying left right and centre seemingly without any grenades being thrown or any explosions. Dongziller dropped during this round, but he would return shortly. The South won this round, but barely. The final encounter would see the North take victory. The team, led by a very stubborn/resilient Rebulous were looking comfortable having elminated over half of the South, however when Dongziller would return the story would change its tone. Part way through the match, Dongziller departed the playing area. He would return a moment later at the wheel of an Elephant and promptly destroy the Spikeball court shortly before dispatching and teabagging Rossinio. The victory was creditted to the North due to their winning performance...
Score: North 2 v 1 South
Round 4: Team Rockets - Guardian
The teams would use only Rockets and Grenades in the explosive fourth round. Set in the tiny map of Guardian, explosions galore ensued, and with MrTaytos firing on all cylinders backed up by a strong Stu Magoo performance, the North earned a Series tying victory. The South played admirably too, with Dark Therapy and Boosh making a few key kills. Nutmeg's strategy of deploying the Bubble Shield at a key point helped with North greatly in this round too. On another night, it could very well have gone the other way, but the Reds were just too powerful for the Blues this time.
Score: North 75 v 61 South
Round 5: V.I.P - Rats Nest
The two teams would visit the interior and looped map of Rats Nest for their VIP encounter. The South team shot out of the blocks, with Rossinio mowing down the VIP quickly while being chauffered around the map admirably by AndyAnnihilate. The team pressed on more with McDoom grabbing a few more VIP kills. While this was happening, the North were waging their own war on VIPs slaying the Blue's Target man a few times. The overall encounter was close, and momentum nearly changed when Izorpo nailed the Blue VIP to tie the round up, however two more VIP kills in the closing stages meant that the South would retain their lead and pull ahead in the series by one round.
Score: North 8 v 10 South
Round 6: Capture the Flag - Valhalla
In what would be the final round of the evening, the North would face the South in the open map of Valhalla in a Multi-Flag Capture the Flag match. Dongziller got the North off to a good start by capturing the Blue flag early on. The South tried to retaliate with several attempts by Rossinio, Maxxxine and a Warthog, but it was eventually McDoom who tied the match up at one a piece with a flag capture. The next to captures, one for each team, came in quick succession. Terrific support play by Egofilter and good vehicle skills by Robafet helped their respective teams capture their second flag. The final capture of the match went to a resilient South side, who's final offensive push led to the last capture of the game.
Score: North 2 v 3 South
OVERALL SCORE: NORTH 2 v 4 SOUTH
OVERALL VICTORS: SOUTH
Comments: OK, so it wasn't the best Halo 3 event we've had, but I reckon we uncovered a hidden gem in the Spikeball round. I think in future, limited the player numbers to about 6 per side (12 people) would be best, as there seemed to be a fair amount of lag in the later and more explosion heavy rounds. On another note, there were plans to have a 7th Mystery Round, and that round did indeed take place, however it was on a completely untried game-mode called "Pirate Ships" which proved to be horrendous, and connection issues meant that by the end of the match it was 9 v 5... So I decided to discount it from the event. Still - thanks to everyone for participating, hope you all had a good time at some point during the evening.
RESULTS OF THE MVP NOMINATIONS...
NORTHERN MVP = NUTMEGVVILSON
SOUTHERN MVP = BOOSH
Well done folks!

Re: NORTH VS SOUTH (HALO 3) = WINNER: SOUTH
Yeah - I gotta try and get a good scoring method for that... Perhaps next time each faction with have 4 different "Mongoose Squads" and the winning faction will be the side with the most overall captures...
Re: NORTH VS SOUTH (HALO 3) = WINNER: SOUTH
Nice one, Rossi.
I must say that I managed to fit in a spot of teabagging, once I worked out what crouch was. I also forgot Nutmeg was on the other team in the VIP round. He was right in front of me and was also the VIP! Hahahahaha! I'm useless!

Of course they did.
It never gets old apparently. I beg to differ.

Re: NORTH VS SOUTH (HALO 3) = WINNER: SOUTH
I'm going to get a Video of the Spikeball destruction quite soon, I reckon.... Watch this space...
Edit: To Render Video's you've got to be a "Bungie Pro" member, which is fair enough. I was gonna do it anyways (more Fileshare for ODST and Halo 3 and Video Rendering abilities) but the option to subscribe ain't working for me... May get the video done eventually.

Re: NORTH VS SOUTH (HALO 3) = WINNER: SOUTH
750 MSP. For some reason I was a Pro Member earlier and it offered me a chance to renew for free earlier, so I'll hopefully snag another subscription next time I go on Halo...

Re: NORTH VS SOUTH (HALO 3) = WINNER: SOUTH
lovely bit of gaming and surprisingly nothing too confusing with the games so thats great too ;)
the party chat thing was helpful, and i personally found 6v6 (whatever the numbers were) on griftball an improvement (but now i cant remmber wether i played with fewer or more people...) but it made more sense and seemed to have stratergy. likewise with multiflag and vip ;)
pity that pirates was a bit of a slug.
